The houseboat is located just off the road leading to Maguga Dam, next to Maguga Lodge. The location is signposted with a sign that reads 'Houseboat Rental'. First, you enter a secure parking lot where you can leave your vehicle for the day. Guests who use the houseboat don't have to pay for the parking facility. From the parking lot there's a road leading down to the waterfront where the houseboat is moored, so before leaving your vehicle for the day it is advisable to drive down to the boat to unload any equipment and groceries you wish to take onboard. There will be a representative at the waterfront who explains how to operate the houseboat, and who is there for any questions you may have.
The rate includes a gilly and one full tank of fuel per day. An extra fuel tank is available on the boat; should you make use of it, you will be charged E300 for the full tank.
Maguga Dam Houseboat- Day Rental

Whilst driving your houseboat around Maguga Dam, nature is all around you and notably below you – it is over a 100 meters deep and it's abundant with fish which you are allowed to catch. More fond of meat for dinner? Not to worry! The houseboat is equipped with a kitchen that allows you to cook pretty much anything you could bring aboard. It has a fridge, an oven, a gas-operated stove as well as a braai.
With an extensive list of amenities included, you’ll hardly need anything more than a few good books to read while lazing away, soaking up the sun. In fact, the large upper deck of the houseboat could have been designed for just this in mind.
Other features of the boat such as a hot water shower, a dvd/tv set and an on-board Fishfinder make sure your stay on the houseboat will be nothing short of luxurious.
Your day on the water begins with a briefing by a houseboat representative, who will show you everything you need to know about using and driving the boat.
From there you are free to explore the dam, or just anchor to one spot and enjoy all the amenities the boat has to offer.
At the end of the afternoon, you will return the boat to the same spot you found it.
Participant guidelines
Operating the Maguga Dam houseboat does not require a boating license.
Other disclosures
The houseboat does not come equipped with power outlets to charge items such as phones, ipods, etc. Make sure you fully charge any equipment before boarding.
